Meeting: Creative Commons and open business

03 April - 2009Henrik0

We share like never before. We link/download/blog/copy-paste constantly, and we get annoyed when we can’t get it, right here, right now. To those of us who call ourselves net natives, this is obvious: on the internet, copying is as natural as breathing in real life. So, why turn potential customers away and force them to turn to semi-illegal services, when you can capitalize – both socially, morally and financially – by opening up? Why not share parts or all of your content under fair terms – and make money on other products or services? Why not embrace the participatory internet?

A common misconception among Danish organisations is that if copyright is good, more copyright is better – even if it means that your customer will not find your photo on Wikipedia, your music in a mashup, or your expensive commercial on YouTube or Vimeo. We believe the 21st century is about sharing, trust and collaboration. Is your organisation ready?

Join us for conversation about Creative Commons, an alternative to “all rights reserved” that allows you to adjust your copyright for more participation and less friction – while at the same time reserving “some rights”. We demonstrate open business models, discuss potential legal and problems, and talk about the phenomenon dubbed “open business”.

Your hosts: Henrik Moltke (advisor, Socialsquare), Martin von Haller Grønbæk (lawyer and partner, Bender von Haller Dragsted)

The meeting is free and takes place at 16.00 on Tuesday April 14th at Socialsquare’s offices on Vesterbrogade 67, 1 (entrance through Westend). Since we have a limited number of seats we urge you to sign up. Preference will be given to organisations and businesses.

We’ll serve light refreshments to stimulate discussion.
